AIES (Alberta Interconnect Electric System ) Supply Adequacy Forecast Help
General

The SC uses a deterministic approach based on estimates of the magnitude of likely outages (aggregated results) and the expected system load. The TA and the SC will present, each one on its own WEB site, the results of their assessments for the entire Alberta electric power system. The results will be presented in graph format for time intervals that could vary from the next seven days (one-week) to the next 364 days (one-year). The graphs will be updated daily on workdays. No updates will be made on weekends and official holidays. The graphs are designed to make it easy for the public to identify the coming time periods when the supply surplus, if any, is going to be "tight".

The "deterministic approach" used by the SC consist in calculating, on a daily basis and for different possible scenarios, the difference between the total amount of MW available for supply and the daily peak demand. The daily ranges (min-max) of these possible differences (balance values) are presented in the graphs.
